Caller screening, a Reservations page, right taxes on orders

Call flows can turn away unverified callers, reservations got their own page, a custom voice picker arrived in early access, and Square orders tax correctly.

Correct taxes on Square orders

Orders now apply exactly the taxes enabled at the order's location, the same rule as the register, instead of stacking every location's taxes. Order status refreshes correctly for orders placed at any of your locations, so paid orders no longer sit at awaiting payment.

Screen callers before the call flow starts

The entry of a call flow has a Screening setting: Off, Balanced or Strict. Phone carriers verify that callers own the number they show, and screening turns away calls that fail the check before they reach a receptionist or use any minutes. Strict can also turn away some international and office callers.

Reservations as a first-class page

Reservations have their own page in the Calendar Capability menu, with cancel and move actions, and the connected provider stays the source of truth. The built-in calendar is reached from the Early Access card rather than the main menu. Yelp appears as a reservation provider marked In review.

Custom voice picker in early access

A Voice early access card lets you connect your own voice provider account with its API key. Receptionist settings then show a Custom voice picker with a Beta badge, listing your voices, including ones you cloned, and clearing it returns the standard voice. A rejected key shows the provider's own reason.

Hears menu items as callers say them

The receptionist is primed with your menu's item names so dish names are transcribed correctly. A partial name such as chicken masala finds Chicken Tikka Masala, and when nothing matches exactly the closest items are offered as suggestions. If a transfer happens mid-order, the caller is told the order has not been placed yet.

Caller notes ride the order

Instructions the caller volunteers, such as extra spicy on an item or ring the bell for the whole order, are saved with the order, shown on the Orders page and sent to Square with the pickup ticket. With Ask for a pickup time off, the receptionist never asks for one.

Behind the scenes. Access permissions were tightened so each endpoint requires the permission for the data it serves, with no implicit read access for team members.
